Both of them got canned yesterday so it seems like there's giant Mix-Ups and changes in the world of media. so I want to get into that. And then we also have to talk about how a geriatric is once again running for President early this morning or maybe late last night.

I don't know and I don't think he does either. Joe Biden Announced that he is once again running for President of the US So we're going to be getting into all that. We could talk a little bit about some of this stuff that we're seeing in the world of crypto as well. Uh, I See some weird things going on with Moderna? Basically, we can officially say that yes, the Rona period is over because it looks like the CEO is selling modern stock as quickly as humanly possible so it's always fun to hop into look what insiders are doing.

Kind of just shows that they're not really. Um, I don't know. supportive of where the Stock's going to be going in the short term. But man oh man oh man.

So anyway, I made a daily market, news, trending news, political update video and my question to you folks is, which do you like better Do you like the Matt Core's live show followed by a wrap up in the evening I think it came out at like 8 P.M if you're on the East Coast uh, obviously 5 p.m if you're on the west coast, do you like that as a video? It was about a 10 minute video of just like a quick like hey, here's what happened. Here's what's going on the market: yada yada or do you like it better as the newsletter uh I Need everyone's votes? What would you do John This is a phenomenal question and I wish I could tell you perfectly what's going on I can't but I can at least tell you my plan and my thoughts on this situation.

I Do not think the market is done with pain I think even though the start of this calendar year has been green, the Bulls have been winning a little bit. I think year to date, we're up roughly five to six percent. Thus far, it has been a year a green year. but I don't think our monetary policy situation is done I think there's more pain to be had.

Well, if you're a bull, if you're bare I think there's more green to be had I think there's more profit I think there's more exciting times to be had I think it's going to be a choppy mess that might favor the downside. that's how I view it and I think this is going to especially hit big Tech including Tesla I like Tesla I am a fan of Tesla I am a long-term Bull on Tesla but I sold all of my Tesla at 190 or 195 I'm looking to re-buy somewhere between I think it's coming sub 140. I would love to buy at 125 and I would also love to buy it 100 I Don't think it'll get that low though. So I'm looking in the 125-ish region plus or minus 15 bucks to re-put it into my long-term account.

I'm not talking about an active trade here. I'm talking about where I'm looking to dip by it and hold it at a minimum for multiple years. The closer to 125, the better. Obviously the farther it goes like you could just get more, it's a better deal.

but I am a long-term Tesla bull of just what's going on in the world of EV where we're going culturally, where we're going technologically, where we are going with Robo taxis I like it in the long term. but if I'm talking about the next couple months I think I'll be able to personally pick it up for cheaper I can't say exactly if it'll hit 108 or not I don't think anyone in this world can, but right now, my midterm thesis on the overall economy, the overall market, and major Mega cap places will be able to pick them up for cheaper. obviously Tesla right now is going that way, but then there's certain ones that really leave me scratching my head. For example: I Love Nvidia I Really do I think it's one of the best long-term Investments right now just because of where we are with data centers Ai and crypto.

it is the gold standard for semiconductors for people who don't know what a semiconductors the A GPU a Graphics Processing Unit Basically, it's the hardware that you need for data centers, what you need for AI What you need for crypto, specifically mining what you need for gaming. The hardware that that company produces to me is in a lot of fields that I find to be particularly exciting and I think are going to remain popular and grow in popularity over the next how many every year? So I specifically like it. but I do think it's crazy overvalued I Mean if you look at Nvidia's chart, all it's done is Rip All it's done is go from the bottom left to the top right and it's getting to the point that based on really a lot of their fundamentals, it is fundamentally overvalued. So even though I like it similar to Tesla I think it's going to be coming down.

Unfortunately, we are seeing we're seeing no crack in Nvidia and I got out of that one and it was this: I got out of Nvidia and Tesla at the same time thinking they would both roughly do the same thing. Tesla's doing what I wanted to right now and Nvidia isn't so I like them I'm just looking to get them at a cheaper price. Um, if that makes sense. So just because I got out doesn't mean I dislike them I'm just like it's getting to the point of being overvalued and obviously you're in this game to make profit.

So Eventually when things are Sky High you have to sell eventually. What's the point of investing if you're never going to get out of your winners ever like what are you doing? The whole point is to make money and do whatever you want with that money. and maybe it just involves you taking a bunch of ice packs and try to fix your life or something like that. But I hope that answers your question.

Is it is a phenomenal question? It's a very fair question I Like what's going on there I just I'm waiting. I Think we're going to be able to pick it up and I'm targeting roughly 125-ish There is a downside gap for I Believe in the 140s. we could go over that a little bit later, but hey, if you have any questions, if anyone else has any questions, feel free to lit them fire. There's a lot to go over so we will be going over them. The Dow, the S P, and the NASDAQ are all a little bit red today. oil holding in the mid 77s and yields coming down ever so slightly in terms of macroeconomic reports and events today, there was nothing yesterday today at 9 00 a.m about 17 minutes ago. now we got some home update stuff.

Uh, but really I'm curious about the consumer confidence index uh or report it's expected to be 104. we will be getting that at 10 A.M and then new home sales will be coming out also at 10 A.M So 10 a.m do not be surprised if there's a little bit of volatility in the market once again 30 minutes into the training day and then I Also want to call out later this week we get the Pce report and we also get the GDP report. so uh, the next. Well, basically Thursday and Friday of this week we do have some pretty exciting things going on.

I Just want to give you a little bit of forewarning: I'm not sure I'm not 100 sure I'll be able to stream on Friday Uh so I don't want everyone to freak out I don't want you guys to cause a Revolt I don't want you to start like punching a pillow or like a brick wall or something. I might be able to stream but I'm also trying to finagle my way into some big fancy schmancy conference uh here in Manhattan with some like high-end traders to see if I could score some interviews for all of us in the channel and all that stuff. Um, so I don't know, you'll find out. How about this way if I don't stream Friday for like the normal Friday thing I'll do like a Friday evening one.

All right, lots of earnings. So yesterday we got First Republic Bank and you know that I degenerately got into First Republic Bank Thus far the stock is not doing what I wanted to do. but honestly, I didn't think the earnings report and announcement were that bad. If you look at FRC right now, it's down 25 26 We closed out the day at 16's currently trading sub 12.

I Actually think it's a bit of an overreaction. so I want to be getting into that that we need to talk about. uh UPS not so good uh GM McDonald GE All did well Spotify actually missed on Revenue but its user growth was impressive. so Spotify is actually the big winner of the day.

Pepsi I was calling this all out to you as soon as we heard the good numbers from Coca-Cola You guys can watch it all back and I said hey, if Coke beats, there's a good chance Pepsi does and that's exactly what Pepsi did so I hope you guys made some money on that. This evening will be very exciting. We hear from Microsoft and we hear from Alphabet and we hear from Visa and we were here from Chipotle. Uh, but obviously the first two are going to be Mega Google and Microsoft.

These are really this week including Meta and Amazon. These are the four major players of the week of exactly why 40 of the S P based on market cap is reporting this week. The only major one that's missing out is Apple which I believe is next week. So we're going to be going over the earnings that came out last night mainly First Republic Bank and then the ones that came out this morning.

but I want to put on your radar Microsoft Google after the market closes today and the other thing that should be on your radar for today is the fact that at 10 AM we get the consumer confidence and also new home sales. Especially with the consumer confidence, we could see a little bit of volatility. A little bit of a jolt right when that comes out. Once again, 10 a.m 30 minutes into the trading day.

First Republic says deposits tumbled 40 to 104.5 billion in Q1 but have stabilized sense. So yeah. I think this has a little bit of headline shock when you see that much of deposits tumbling. but what did people think were gonna happen? I I Just didn't understand quite this reaction because this was within the bound of estimations right here.

People thought it would be anywhere from 100 to 200. So yeah, it's at the lower band of what people thought the deposits would be. And also you could argue that the only reason it's even within the bands is because of the 30 million that was given to them by the large bank. So I get that and they're They're downsizing as well.

They're cutting 20 to 25 percent of their personnel. But I mean if you've looked at what men has done recently, every time they're firing people, the stock just goes up and up and up. So was it a quote-unquote good earnings? No. I wouldn't say that.

but I would actually argue it wasn't as bad as apparently the market is pricing in. So I am hoping for a recovery here. It's not like First Republic like kicked in the door God on the speaker and said we're done, we're closing up shop. That didn't happen at all, but yet it kind of has like the vibe that that's what was said.

So in my mind and remember I'm stupid so maybe I'm getting something wrong here. It feels like there's a bit of a disconnect, so if you ended up shorting this right before market closed yesterday, Massive! congrats to you I hope you make your money good for you. but I still think there's a decent shot of First Republic making a recovery. But here's the major things you need to know.

So first, Republic's deposits fell 40.8 to 104.5 billion in the first quarter, despite activity uh, deposit activity, excuse me Began to stabilize beginning the week of March 27th and has remained stable through Friday April 21st. Total deposits were 102.7 billion as of April 21st down only 1.7 for March 31st, primarily reflecting seasonal client tax payments that occur each. April Not that bad when you look at it in that time frame. The deposit figure that ended for March included 30 billion in time deposits from 11 larger banks that were announced on March 16th in an attempt to stabilize the broader banking system, and it seems as if they did that.

I Would like to reiterate our appreciation for the group of America's largest banks who pays 30 bill in unsecured deposits with us, as well as for our state and federal Regulators who have continued to provide us with expert support. So that was the CEO Mr Michael Rothler basically saying hey, I super super appreciate the 30 bill that you gave us First Republic announced that it was cutting expenses through reductions in executive compensation I think the world's okay with that in condensing office space and cutting headcount by 20 to 25 in the second quarter now. I Am of the belief that why is FRC kind of getting knocked really hard I think it's because of that, People are like uh oh, you're cutting people. Does that mean you're gonna go to bankruptcy and it's a fair thing to ask.

and yeah, they totally could. But I Also really, really believe that they have stabilized. Obviously, that might be wrong. I'm throwing out a conjecture here and I'm just kind of taking them on face value.

but I do believe that the situation has stabilized. First Republic Also said in their release that it's pursuing strategic options to expedite its progress while reinforcing its capital position. I Also think that some people interpreted that quote to be a little bit more like, are they going to bankruptcy? What do you mean strategic options? We've heard that before with Bed Bath and Beyond we heard that before with Revlon We've heard that whole thing of strategic options with companies that end up going to bankruptcy so especially within the retail. Community I Think it prompted a little bit of fear and maybe they are considering that, but also maybe they're just making other different deals with the government.

maybe with other Banks To exactly this reinforce their Capital position. So it is getting knocked very, very hard right now. But in my biased humble opinion, because I am an investor in FRC I do believe that it's an overreaction. The Firm did beat Wall Streets as a cement on the top and bottom lines, the bank reported a dollar 23 in earnings per share and 1.21 billion of Revenue.

So it did beat on top and bottom estimates. but I think the reduction in headcount and the Strategic options is causing a little bit of fear. And actually, first we could come back to that very quickly. Pepsi Beat.

That's what you need to know I Don't know how many of you are degenerately trading Pepsi in here, but they beat on their revenue and they also beat on their earnings per share. and we called this out with Coca-Cola McDonald's earnings B estimates as U.S Traffic grows despite price hikes, people still like an old Mickey D's once again beating on the top and bottom line the same way Coca-Cola did the same way Pepsi didn't General Motors raises 2023 guidance as first quarter earnings beat expectations GM Also being we're seeing a lot of Beats if you're picking up on the tone here, 221 versus a dollar 73 and the revenue of almost 40 billion almost actually beating by a whole Billy So GM doing really well Spotify once again actually did Miss on their revenue, but their user growth really surpassed what anyone thought it would be. So if you check out Spotify it's actually crushing it this morning. I Don't really trade Spotify but maybe some of you in here do so I Just want to show you that it is up right now.

7.8 percent. Uh, closed at 131. currently trading at 141.75 so Spotify doing very well even though they missed on their revenue. Five things to know before that: Bell goes dingy Ding Ding Ding Dong today Tuesday April 25th mixed bag more earnings Most of these earnings as of last night and this morning doing pretty well.

It seems like the major negative one is FRC and the major positive one is a mixture between I would argue Spotify and Pepsi Pepsi coming down a little bit right now, but percentage-wise Spotify is up a metric F ton General Motors boost its Outlook Everyone likes that jarring numbers from First Republic See even that? like what did people expect? like no one thought it was gonna be like actually everything's fine and we didn't see any problems whatsoever. Of course, there were problems we knew there were Bank runs. so I think I don't know what people were paying attention to. Uh, but I think the expectations were way higher than what reality was reflecting cable chaos this was in the update video from yesterday.

Uh, but the major thing that we got into was obviously the major news of the day. Yesterday, within an hour, we found out both Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon were released from their jobs.

Obviously the former from Fox and the latter from CNN. I Think that they should make a show together where they debate The Daily News and not only are physical altercations allowed, but I think that they should be encouraged. That's just my idea. I think it would be cool I know I would tune into it without a doubt I would tune into it every single day, five nights a week.

Whatever. Sunday to Thursday If you're telling me these two guys are debating and they're allowed to beat the out of each other, I would 100 be watching that and imagine if we got some sports books in there of who's going to win the debate, who's going to win the boxing like I don't I think it's an idea I think they should do it? Uh, they probably won't. Neither of them are answering Idms about it I said I'd be both their managers um I think it could be good I think it could be really, really good and then Moscow in New York right here. the Russia's foreign minister is apparently here, so that's interesting.

And one more thing that you should know: Biden makes it official he's running again in 2024. there's a couple things I want to get into about this so I just want to put that out there. in terms of political news. As of this morning, this is the big political news.

It might not feel that big because generally the incumbent runs anyway. This isn't really that surprising. What's surprising is that the dude's old as dude. this guy.

He was around when they like invented politics like you. He is so so so old. and when he runs again, if he is elected, he was already the oldest president. So he'll be like the super oldest president.

Yesterday people were calling out 50k and now today people are calling out 100K and we could talk about the modernist CEO Selling literally all of the shares that she possibly can.

The forecast was 0.632 Uh, so home sales coming in way stronger than expected. Breaking: uh, Consumer Confidence: Actual 101.3 Forecast: 104. So confidence.

Consumer confidence coming in less than expected, home sales coming in higher than expected, and the market as of now at least liked it popping on that news. Okay, so Morgan John First of all, let me highlight the fact that the stock is down about 10 right now on roughly 4 million shares of after hours volume. The earnings and revenues actually came in better than expectations. earnings per share coming in at a dollar Twenty three expectations were for 85 cents per top and bottom line revenues coming in at 1.21 billion dollars. The expectation was a hair below 1.15 billion dollars, but it was the deposit numbers as we spoke about this past hour right now.

overall deposits at The end of this last quarter as of March 31st were a hundred and four billion dollars. That represents a 40 almost 41 decline in deposits over the 176 odd billion dollars that we saw at the end of December of last year. That 104 billion dollars was also below the analyst estimates calling for roughly a hundred 45 billion dollars as of this past quarter end. It's also important to note that that 104 billion dollars they report factors in the 30 some billion dollars Consortium of large U.S banks to help Shore up the deposit base at First Republic We've also got some other headlines coming through with regard to Future policies we will see Job Cuts Unfortunately, at First Republic they will cut excuse me in this current quarter between 20 to 25 percent of the workforce at First Republic again to try to control costs.

There also some headlines coming out with regard to a reduction in the amount of executive compensation at senior manager levels for the I feel like we knew none of this was that special. the right size the bank for those operations. so again in earnings and revenue beat deposits coming in worse than what the estimates were for. Amid signs that they will then cut 20 to 25 percent of their Workforce and look to rein in executive compensation as well as reduce office space usage.

Those are the the current headlines right now. The shares are down roughly seven eight percent. Continue to go through here and see if there's any more color with regard to other aspects of the business. But for right now John and Morgan Driving the action to the downside right now I would I would also point out that this is less volatile than some options Traders were expecting so we'll continue to monitor this.
