Deny the petition challenging the sec's decision citadel iex. 1 citadel. Lost. They just just made a decision literally hot off the docket.
They made a decision of the versus citadel. Remember that that iex case when citadel was saying like that iex isn't allowed to have those orders. They just made a decision decided july 29th. This is breaking news in the case of the sec versus citadel circuit judge the sec approved a recent attempt by a securities exchange to prevent investors from buying and selling securities.
Before or investors. Can know the market prices we deny the petition challenging the sec's decision citadel slash iex1 citadel lost sec slash iex1 citadel lost we deny the petition challenging the sec's decision wow so this is what iex did basically iex made the trades executed on its platform. They put in a speed bum. Which was to the tune of microseconds like literally it happens faster than like you could click your mouse.
But it messes up high frequency. Traders. This is the speed bump. It's a little little little break like faster than you can blink your eyes.
It's big enough where it screws with high frequency. Traders. But no person would actually ever ever notice. It and the sec approved this as like a trade type.
It's referred to as the d limit. But then what's insane is citadel. Then sued the sec and said that like they should have never approved it but then these judges. This is what this is all about the judges said go fuck yourself.
And right here. The speed bump is 350. Microseconds uh a 1 11. The blink of an eye so big enough to screw with high frequency traders.
But then no other person would like ever ever ever notice so it doesn't like really impact you at all dude. These judges basically just went and told citadel to go screw off citadel. Argues that the sec lacked substantial evidence for one of its findings and the three of sec's decisions were arbitrary and precious. We disagreed citadel's five counter arguments don't convince us otherwise because substantial evidence supported the sec's findings and because the sec's conclusions were reasonable and reasonably explained we deny citadel's petition for review dude.
None of this went in the favor of citadel whatsoever. Huge win for the sec huge win for iex big big loss for citadel. I'll have to spend a little bit more time on it. But the tldr version of this is ken griffin is fucking pissed.
it means absolutely nothing….
One small step in making trading a teeny tiny bit more fair. Retail still has a LONG way to go before it's a somewhat even playing field.
